Narrative:

We were cleared for a visual to bgm. Came up on tower and were cleared to land. I misheard the controller and thought he cleared us to land on runway 34. In fact; he cleared us on runway 28. The clearance interrupted a checklist we were running and I just didn't catch the 'runway 28.' on about a 2 mi final; we heard tower clear an rj into position and hold on runway 16. We broke off our approach when we heard this and asked tower for a downwind to runway 16 as we were too heavy to comfortably land on the short runway. This was approved. They cleared the other rj to takeoff on runway 16 and we landed after his departure without further incident. Supplemental information from acn 647241: our flight was cleared into position and hold; on runway 16 bgm; by tower. The other flight had been cleared to land on the crossing runway (runway 28). They instead lined up for landing on runway 34. After moving into position on runway 16; we spotted the other aircraft lined up for a landing on runway 34. We announced in position on runway 16; vacated the runway and the other aircraft went around. Tower should have monitored the position of the landing aircraft after they were issued clearance to land. The incident was only discovered by our flight crew looking out the window while waiting to depart. When we notified tower of the conflict; we received no response and taxied clear of the runway on our own initiative.

Title: A CL65 CREW MISSED THE LNDG RWY NUMBER CLRNC. THEY EXECUTED A GAR AFTER HEARING A CL65 RECEIVE OPPOSITE DIRECTION TKOF CLRNC.

Narrative: WE WERE CLRED FOR A VISUAL TO BGM. CAME UP ON TWR AND WERE CLRED TO LAND. I MISHEARD THE CTLR AND THOUGHT HE CLRED US TO LAND ON RWY 34. IN FACT; HE CLRED US ON RWY 28. THE CLRNC INTERRUPTED A CHKLIST WE WERE RUNNING AND I JUST DIDN'T CATCH THE 'RWY 28.' ON ABOUT A 2 MI FINAL; WE HEARD TWR CLR AN RJ INTO POS AND HOLD ON RWY 16. WE BROKE OFF OUR APCH WHEN WE HEARD THIS AND ASKED TWR FOR A DOWNWIND TO RWY 16 AS WE WERE TOO HVY TO COMFORTABLY LAND ON THE SHORT RWY. THIS WAS APPROVED. THEY CLRED THE OTHER RJ TO TKOF ON RWY 16 AND WE LANDED AFTER HIS DEP WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 647241: OUR FLT WAS CLRED INTO POS AND HOLD; ON RWY 16 BGM; BY TWR. THE OTHER FLT HAD BEEN CLRED TO LAND ON THE XING RWY (RWY 28). THEY INSTEAD LINED UP FOR LNDG ON RWY 34. AFTER MOVING INTO POS ON RWY 16; WE SPOTTED THE OTHER ACFT LINED UP FOR A LNDG ON RWY 34. WE ANNOUNCED IN POS ON RWY 16; VACATED THE RWY AND THE OTHER ACFT WENT AROUND. TWR SHOULD HAVE MONITORED THE POS OF THE LNDG ACFT AFTER THEY WERE ISSUED CLRNC TO LAND. THE INCIDENT WAS ONLY DISCOVERED BY OUR FLT CREW LOOKING OUT THE WINDOW WHILE WAITING TO DEPART. WHEN WE NOTIFIED TWR OF THE CONFLICT; WE RECEIVED NO RESPONSE AND TAXIED CLR OF THE RWY ON OUR OWN INITIATIVE.
