Narrative:

Slide arrived in slide shop with firing cable still connected. This is a safety concern to the mechanic removing the slide; the mechanic in the shop; and all shipping personnel in between. Ensure that the safety pin is inserted in the bottle; and carefully disconnect firing cable. Either the mechanic does not understand the removable procedures; or is not using the information. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: due to the frequency of the armed slides being received in the slide shop and the danger to shop personnel and anyone handling the armed slides in transit and the apparent failure of management to correct the situation; the reporter was counseled to use the FAA hotline.
