Narrative:

Tower cleared us into hold pad to wait for an XA12 wheels up. The hold pad is defined by dashed taxiway edge markings. We parked approximately 8 ft inside the markings and thought we had adequate clearance. However; as aircraft that were behind us were cleared to taxi onto runway 10; B737's and a B757; it became obvious there was insufficient clearance and these aircraft had to alter their taxi to the left of centerline to ensure adequate clearance. We told tower of our concerns and all operations were conducted safely without incident. This departure runway is seldom used in my experience at bwi flying out of several months each yr for over 10 yrs. I do not recall ever using this hold pad. It would be helpful to pilots to put a note in the bwi 10-7 and/or 10-9 page regarding this situation to avoid any future misunderstanding about this holding area.

Title: B737-300 PIC RPT ON THE HAZARDS INVOLVED IN THE USE OF TXWY F BY OTHER ACFT WHEN HIS FLT WAS HOLDING IN THE PAD NEAR TXWY F1 FOR A DELAYED DEP OFF RWY 10 AT BWI.

Narrative: TWR CLRED US INTO HOLD PAD TO WAIT FOR AN XA12 WHEELS UP. THE HOLD PAD IS DEFINED BY DASHED TXWY EDGE MARKINGS. WE PARKED APPROX 8 FT INSIDE THE MARKINGS AND THOUGHT WE HAD ADEQUATE CLRNC. HOWEVER; AS ACFT THAT WERE BEHIND US WERE CLRED TO TAXI ONTO RWY 10; B737'S AND A B757; IT BECAME OBVIOUS THERE WAS INSUFFICIENT CLRNC AND THESE ACFT HAD TO ALTER THEIR TAXI TO THE L OF CTRLINE TO ENSURE ADEQUATE CLRNC. WE TOLD TWR OF OUR CONCERNS AND ALL OPS WERE CONDUCTED SAFELY WITHOUT INCIDENT. THIS DEP RWY IS SELDOM USED IN MY EXPERIENCE AT BWI FLYING OUT OF SEVERAL MONTHS EACH YR FOR OVER 10 YRS. I DO NOT RECALL EVER USING THIS HOLD PAD. IT WOULD BE HELPFUL TO PLTS TO PUT A NOTE IN THE BWI 10-7 AND/OR 10-9 PAGE REGARDING THIS SIT TO AVOID ANY FUTURE MISUNDERSTANDING ABOUT THIS HOLDING AREA.
