Narrative:

After takeoff flight did not accelerate and climb as usual. After a few mins, captain phoned and informed cabin crew that there was a problem retracting the leading edge flap, and we would be returning to land back at ZZZ. The captain explained that upon a fast landing the brakes could overheat and to be aware of the possibility of smoke or fire in the cabin, and to be aware that there would be ground emergency/fire rescue present near the runway. The flight landed fast but without incident. Passenger and crew exited as usual via jetbridge to the terminal.
