Narrative:

Flight crew noticed gap at wing to body fairing right wing lower surface 1 inch by 1/4 inch gap of missing sealant. Aircraft was routed out and back with 35 hour schedule maintenance performed interim repair with speed tape to prevent airflow under fairing. Tape removed and resealed at overnight maintenance. Informed after departure, tape not allowed in this area. Reason for report.
