Narrative:

On flight from ZZZ to ZZZZ, we were dispatched on a plane that had a cdl item on an inoperative thrust reverser. At jfk, we checked the MEL/cdl manual and didn't see anything that would affect our flight in the cdl section. About 1 hour out from ZZZZ, we were told to contact dispatch, which we did. Dispatch informed us that we could not go into ZZZZ with the inoperative thrust reverser because ZZZZ had a displaced threshold that reduces the usable landing runway length to less than 7000 ft, which the MEL requires. We checked the MEL and the airport page for ZZZZ and agreed with dispatch. We then mutually agreed to divert to ZZZY to switch planes, and then continue on.

Title: FLT CREW OF B757 IS DISPATCHED TO FOREIGN DEST WITH MEL-CDL INOP THRUST REVERSER. LEARN ENRTE THE DEST RWY DOES NOT MEET THE CDL REQUIREMENTS. DIVERT TO ANOTHER ARPT.

Narrative: ON FLT FROM ZZZ TO ZZZZ, WE WERE DISPATCHED ON A PLANE THAT HAD A CDL ITEM ON AN INOP THRUST REVERSER. AT JFK, WE CHKED THE MEL/CDL MANUAL AND DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING THAT WOULD AFFECT OUR FLT IN THE CDL SECTION. ABOUT 1 HR OUT FROM ZZZZ, WE WERE TOLD TO CONTACT DISPATCH, WHICH WE DID. DISPATCH INFORMED US THAT WE COULD NOT GO INTO ZZZZ WITH THE INOP THRUST REVERSER BECAUSE ZZZZ HAD A DISPLACED THRESHOLD THAT REDUCES THE USABLE LNDG RWY LENGTH TO LESS THAN 7000 FT, WHICH THE MEL REQUIRES. WE CHKED THE MEL AND THE ARPT PAGE FOR ZZZZ AND AGREED WITH DISPATCH. WE THEN MUTUALLY AGREED TO DIVERT TO ZZZY TO SWITCH PLANES, AND THEN CONTINUE ON.
