Narrative:

At iad taxi from cargo ramp. Instructions were to taxi to runway 30 via txwys Z, D, Y. Told to hold short of runway 12/30 at taxiway Y. There's a runway 1L 'approach' sign with markings. NOTAMS calls them non-standard. There's a runway 30-12 sign 'hold line.' both are on taxiway Y. We were cleared into position and hold on runway 30 at taxiway Y. A regional jet (I believe) was landing on runway 1L. We hedged the taxi a bit but it seems that we were pretty close to being underneath his flight path on approach. Recommendations: don't allow departures at taxiway Y (runway 30) and clear up NOTAMS as to what 'non-standard' markings means (ie, specify).
