Narrative:

On vector to runway 25L, told to descend to 8000 ft and turn to heading 170 degrees. Selected flight level change and heading select. I called 'approaching 8000 ft,' aircraft failed to level off. I disconnected the autoplt and arrested descent at approximately 7800 ft. All 4 pilots in the cockpit witnessed event and have no explanation.

Title: A B777 FLT CREW NOTICE THAT THE ALT CAPTURE FAILED DURING A DSCNT AND ACFT DSNDED 200 FT BELOW ASSIGNED ALT BEFORE THE FLT CREW COULD REACT.

Narrative: ON VECTOR TO RWY 25L, TOLD TO DSND TO 8000 FT AND TURN TO HDG 170 DEGS. SELECTED FLT LEVEL CHANGE AND HDG SELECT. I CALLED 'APCHING 8000 FT,' ACFT FAILED TO LEVEL OFF. I DISCONNECTED THE AUTOPLT AND ARRESTED DSCNT AT APPROX 7800 FT. ALL 4 PLTS IN THE COCKPIT WITNESSED EVENT AND HAVE NO EXPLANATION.
