Narrative:

First officer was in restroom when ATC cleared me direct to 'beeno.' I thought ATC said 'ovido' and proceeded direct ovido. Later ATC corrected the situation by giving us a right turn to avoid military airspace. I had my map out and the route highlighted in yellow. I retyped 'beeno' in the FMC and was later reclred beeno. ATC was helpful and polite and did not seem to have a problem with the situation. I should have watched closer for similar sounding intxns on my route. It would have been helpful to have the first officer as a backup, but he needed to use the restroom.
