Narrative:

Bird strike (gull) followed by engine overtemp/fail and high speed abort (130-150 KTS). Engine stopped on centerline, tower notified and passenger instructed to remain seated as per procedure. Completed procedures, shut down engine and taxied to the gate. This abort went off 'textbook' due to the excellent crew brief and leadership demonstrated by the captain. Pilots and flight attendants both did exactly what they were supposed to do, and the passenger remained calm and controled, in spite of smoking tires/brakes.
