Narrative:

While performing the preflight, I noticed tape had been placed over the lavatory/baggage compartment viewing port on the cargo compartment side. This prevented the use of the viewer in case of a cargo compartment smoke alert. I directed the rampers to remove it and they did. This aircraft had spent the night in ZZZ maintenance.

Title: AN EMJ CAPT DISCOVERED, DURING HIS WALKAROUND, THAT TAPE HAD BEEN PLACED OVER THE VIEWING PORT FOR THE CARGO COMPARTMENT WHILE IT HAD UNDERGONE MAINT AT BGR THE PREVIOUS NIGHT. THE GND CREW REMOVED THE TAPE BEFORE DEP.
