Narrative:

This IFR part 135 freight operations flight was operating in day VFR conditions. After sighting oaj airport, I cancelled my IFR flight. AWOS indicated runway 23 was more favorable for landing. I switched to CTAF and called a right base entry from 15, 10, 5 mi north. During this time, I observed no radio communications on CTAF besides myself. I noticed the helicopter near the threshold of runway 5 hovering near ground level towards me. I then executed a go around and announced on CTAF. I attempted to contact the helicopter on CTAF and no response. After landing, the FBO employee confirmed that my xmissions were heard and none from the helicopter. I called wilmington approach and reported this.
