Narrative:
Departing runway 24 on teb 5 departure. Cleared initially to 1500 ft. Missed altitude alert and first officer did not call it. I was taking a peak at manhattan skyline and went approximately 250 ft above assigned altitude. ATC asked our altitude and we said, 'correcting.' pay attention and save sightseeing for later.

Narrative: DEPARTING RWY 24 ON TEB 5 DEP. CLRED INITIALLY TO 1500 FT. MISSED ALT ALERT AND FO DID NOT CALL IT. I WAS TAKING A PEAK AT MANHATTAN SKYLINE AND WENT APPROXIMATELY 250 FT ABOVE ASSIGNED ALT. ATC ASKED OUR ALT AND WE SAID, 'CORRECTING.' PAY ATTENTION AND SAVE SIGHTSEEING FOR LATER.
