Departing runway 24 on teb 5 departure. Cleared initially to 1500 ft. Missed altitude alert and first officer did not call it. I was taking a peak at manhattan skyline and went approximately 250 ft above assigned altitude. ATC asked our altitude and we said, 'correcting.' pay attention and save sightseeing for later.
