Narrative:

First officer PF. Approximately 100 ft AGL after takeoff, bird descending right to left ingested in #1 engine. First officer perceived bird size of seagull. Captain perceived bird size of crow. FOD indications: loud bang and compressor stall. Captain observed #1 EPR drop and egt fluctuation. Reduced #1 engine power and stall cleared after 1 loud bang and 3 chugs. Declared emergency with tower, advised event and intent for left 270 degree turn to land runway 12R. Simultaneously, briefed plan with flight attendants and passenger over PA. Maintained VFR left turn from departure runway 3, set up for ILS runway 12R, performed landing checklist with heavy weight consideration. Confirmed final runway 12R with tower and landed. Cleared runway, requested crash fire rescue equipment crew inspection of left engine. Briefed passenger on subsequent safe status and taxi to departure gate. Engine postflt inspection revealed C1 damage. Up to 6 inches of several blades bent forward or torn. Tailpipe smelled like chicken roasted with feathers.
