Narrative:

My company has begun an attendance policy that has resulted in crew members flying sick when they otherwise would have stayed home. A copy of this policy is attached. Despite far 61.53's prohibition on operations during medical deficiency, ie, being sick, the company has issued this policy. The FAA inspectors who oversee the operations of this airline have allowed a policy to occur which intimidates pilots from calling in sick when they may not be safe to fly.

Title: AN ANONYMOUS PART 121 AIRLINE PLT RPTED CONCERN ABOUT HIS COMPANY'S ATTITUDE TOWARD SICK LEAVE, REFERRING TO IT IN THE COMPANY POM AS AN UNEXCUSED ABSENCE.

Narrative: MY COMPANY HAS BEGUN AN ATTENDANCE POLICY THAT HAS RESULTED IN CREW MEMBERS FLYING SICK WHEN THEY OTHERWISE WOULD HAVE STAYED HOME. A COPY OF THIS POLICY IS ATTACHED. DESPITE FAR 61.53'S PROHIBITION ON OPS DURING MEDICAL DEFICIENCY, IE, BEING SICK, THE COMPANY HAS ISSUED THIS POLICY. THE FAA INSPECTORS WHO OVERSEE THE OPS OF THIS AIRLINE HAVE ALLOWED A POLICY TO OCCUR WHICH INTIMIDATES PLTS FROM CALLING IN SICK WHEN THEY MAY NOT BE SAFE TO FLY.
