Narrative:

While taxiing from company hangar to gate at approximately XA30 hours, company was notified twice during taxi that we were en route to gate. As we approached the gate, I noticed no guide person, so per company policy I did not enter the gate envelope. In doing so we blocked taxiway a and obstructed taxiway C for aircraft arriving on runway 22R. We called again for a guide person. We sat for approximately 5 mins until someone guided us in. I feel this was an unsafe situation to be in as I was semi-committed to the gate and blocking taxiway a and obstructing taxiway C. I sent a message within the company and was told 'this is not a safety issue.' I feel it is and was.
