Narrative:

After accomplishing a maintenance visit on aircraft, I went to the stockroom to see if we had a slide in stock. I checked the parts tag on a slide we had and went to the computer to check the affectivity. It was effective for the aircraft. I went back to the shelf and grabbed the wrong slide. All the slides are in cases that are the same color and I thought I got the same slide I checked. I installed a forward slide in the aft position. The problem was found and corrected before the aircraft was released.
