Narrative:

Received position and hold clearance for runway 27 at XXX. Read back clearance, started running before takeoff checklist. While entering runway, received new departure frequency from tower controller. Did not realize that we were not cleared for takeoff, turned on lights, finished checklist and proceeded to take off. After departure, we were asked to contact the TRACON supervisor (XXX) after we landed at XXX. Contacted the supervisor and he confirmed that we had indeed taken off without a clearance and that there was a loss of separation and he had to file a deviation report. This was an unfortunate incident that there is not excuse for.
