Narrative:

After a reduced rest overnight, we taxied out for takeoff on runway 23. During takeoff roll, left engine was slow to spool up. Due to length of roll while trying to set takeoff thrust, we elected to exit runway and coordinated with the tower. We taxied back for takeoff on runway 23. We inadvertently passed over hold short line. We stopped and were questioning whether we had passed the ILS hold line or the runway hold short line when the tower told us they would 'get us going shortly.' we then assumed we were not over the hold short line. However, once cleared for takeoff, we continued from our position on the parallel taxiway Q onto the runway and did not observe another hold short line. At no time was any portion of our aircraft breaking the plane of the runway, but we were over the hold short line on the parallel taxiway.

Title: AN MD88 CROSSES OVER THE HOLD SHORT LINE AT TXWY Q FOR RWY 23 AT CYYZ, ONT.

Narrative: AFTER A REDUCED REST OVERNIGHT, WE TAXIED OUT FOR TKOF ON RWY 23. DURING TKOF ROLL, L ENG WAS SLOW TO SPOOL UP. DUE TO LENGTH OF ROLL WHILE TRYING TO SET TKOF THRUST, WE ELECTED TO EXIT RWY AND COORDINATED WITH THE TWR. WE TAXIED BACK FOR TKOF ON RWY 23. WE INADVERTENTLY PASSED OVER HOLD SHORT LINE. WE STOPPED AND WERE QUESTIONING WHETHER WE HAD PASSED THE ILS HOLD LINE OR THE RWY HOLD SHORT LINE WHEN THE TWR TOLD US THEY WOULD 'GET US GOING SHORTLY.' WE THEN ASSUMED WE WERE NOT OVER THE HOLD SHORT LINE. HOWEVER, ONCE CLRED FOR TKOF, WE CONTINUED FROM OUR POS ON THE PARALLEL TXWY Q ONTO THE RWY AND DID NOT OBSERVE ANOTHER HOLD SHORT LINE. AT NO TIME WAS ANY PORTION OF OUR ACFT BREAKING THE PLANE OF THE RWY, BUT WE WERE OVER THE HOLD SHORT LINE ON THE PARALLEL TXWY.
