Narrative:

After takeoff from lga, we received an EICAS message 'landing gear air-ground failure.' I tried to retract the landing gear, but the gear would not retract. I followed the aom procedure and after completing the aom, I did not divert until I had some more information from dispatch and moc. After receiving this information from dispatch and having enough fuel to continue to boston, this allowed me more time to review the abnormality with the first officer and the flight attendant. The passenger were briefed about the gear. The landing was normal and the message went away on landing. We taxied the aircraft to the gate with no problems. Supplemental information from acn 593876: we continued climb as normal, followed aom procedure. We continued route as planned while contacting maintenance and dispatch. By the time the checklists were complete and we had received relevant information from maintenance/dispatch, we were about 1/2 way to bos and elected to continue with new fuel numbers from dispatch.
