Narrative:

Initially aircraft X had a light assembly anti-collision XXXX installed on the lower. I installed a light assembly anti-collision XXXX new style anti-collision light. The new style is already installed on the top. Technician services says the lights are inter-changeable on an air carrier aircraft. There isn't on eco (engineering change order) for the air carrier aircraft.

Title: AN MD80 LOWER ANTI-COLLISION LIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW TYPE ASSEMBLY WITH A DIFFERENT PART NUMBER WITHOUT ENGINEERING APPROVAL DOCUMENTATION.

Narrative: INITIALLY ACFT X HAD A LIGHT ASSEMBLY ANTI-COLLISION XXXX INSTALLED ON THE LOWER. I INSTALLED A LIGHT ASSEMBLY ANTI-COLLISION XXXX NEW STYLE ANTI-COLLISION LIGHT. THE NEW STYLE IS ALREADY INSTALLED ON THE TOP. TECHNICIAN SVCS SAYS THE LIGHTS ARE INTER-CHANGEABLE ON AN ACR ACFT. THERE ISN'T ON ECO (ENGINEERING CHANGE ORDER) FOR THE ACR ACFT.
