Narrative:

Aircraft #1 was on a visual approach to runway 9L at mia and cleared to land. When the aircraft was on about 1 1/2 mi final, I noticed it was lined up with runway 8 -- a new runway that is still closed. I advised the pilot of this and asked if he could sidestep to runway 9L. He did and landed on runway 9L without further incident. Comment: runway 8 is right next to runway 9L at mia. Runway 9R is about 4000 ft south of runway 9L. The runways at mia need to be renamed. The above situation has happened many times since the new runway 8 was paved. It is confusing to the pilots.
