Narrative:

I was given clearance to take off from mri and proceed to shipcreek to overfly the knik arm (water) and cross edf approach corridor. Anchorage terminal area pilot bulletin (page 9) (14 crash fire rescue equipment part 93) has a misprint that states 'merrill traffic do fly between 600 ft and 2000 ft).' since I was given clearance over the water. I thought my altitude was correct (at 1200 ft and climbing). The tower controller advised I was in violation unless I requested 'altitude deviation.'

Title: DUE IN PART TO A MISPRINT (NOW CORRECTED) IN THE FAA PUBLISHED ANCHORAGE TERMINAL AREA PLT BULLETIN, THIS PA22 PLT FLEW OVER THE KNIK ARM OF COOK INLET WHILE DEPARTING MRI AT AN UNAUTHORIZED ALT.

Narrative: I WAS GIVEN CLRNC TO TAKE OFF FROM MRI AND PROCEED TO SHIPCREEK TO OVERFLY THE KNIK ARM (WATER) AND CROSS EDF APCH CORRIDOR. ANCHORAGE TERMINAL AREA PLT BULLETIN (PAGE 9) (14 CFR PART 93) HAS A MISPRINT THAT STATES 'MERRILL TFC DO FLY BTWN 600 FT AND 2000 FT).' SINCE I WAS GIVEN CLRNC OVER THE WATER. I THOUGHT MY ALT WAS CORRECT (AT 1200 FT AND CLBING). THE TWR CTLR ADVISED I WAS IN VIOLATION UNLESS I REQUESTED 'ALTITUDE DEV.'
