Narrative:

I was possibly scheduled for more than 8 hours of flight time between required rest periods. The re-scheduling occurred during the first leg (while still in flight) of a 9 leg day. I was not informed of the change by company until after the second leg. When the company made the change, the flight time total added to 7 hours 59 mins. When I was informed after 2 legs were completed, the total added to 8 hours 10 mins because the first 2 legs were longer than usual. I objected. The company's position was that at the time of the change, the new schedule was legal even though I was not informed until later. (I requested and was given the exact time of the rescheduling). Having no recourse, I flew the shift. Going by the regulation, it was a legal change, but I plan on confirming that position.

Title: A DIFFERENCE OF OPINION BTWN A COMPANY AND THEIR PLT AS TO HOW FLT TIME LIMITATIONS AND REST REQUIREMENTS REGS APPLY.

Narrative: I WAS POSSIBLY SCHEDULED FOR MORE THAN 8 HRS OF FLT TIME BTWN REQUIRED REST PERIODS. THE RE-SCHEDULING OCCURRED DURING THE FIRST LEG (WHILE STILL IN FLT) OF A 9 LEG DAY. I WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE CHANGE BY COMPANY UNTIL AFTER THE SECOND LEG. WHEN THE COMPANY MADE THE CHANGE, THE FLT TIME TOTAL ADDED TO 7 HRS 59 MINS. WHEN I WAS INFORMED AFTER 2 LEGS WERE COMPLETED, THE TOTAL ADDED TO 8 HRS 10 MINS BECAUSE THE FIRST 2 LEGS WERE LONGER THAN USUAL. I OBJECTED. THE COMPANY'S POS WAS THAT AT THE TIME OF THE CHANGE, THE NEW SCHEDULE WAS LEGAL EVEN THOUGH I WAS NOT INFORMED UNTIL LATER. (I REQUESTED AND WAS GIVEN THE EXACT TIME OF THE RESCHEDULING). HAVING NO RECOURSE, I FLEW THE SHIFT. GOING BY THE REG, IT WAS A LEGAL CHANGE, BUT I PLAN ON CONFIRMING THAT POS.
