Narrative:

En route on climb from den to mck, nebraska, on the plains 2 mck transition approximately 60 mi out, the #1 engine 'T' fire handle illuminated. The emergency procedures were accomplished, notified ATC and declared an emergency. The engine was shut down per procedures, but we determined that the warning was most likely a false indication. The return to the airport was uneventful. The aircraft was taxied clear of runway 26 at denver international, and the aircraft was shut down. The passenger were deplaned, since without the engines running, there is no cooling for the cabin. A bus picked them up, and the aircraft was towed to the terminal. The problem was determined to be a faulty fire loop in front of the 'lip heat.' the aircraft was repaired, and test flown a few hours later without any abnormal indications later that evening. The aircraft was returned to service.
