Narrative:

At 3000 ft, on vector to intercept the oak ILS runway 29, localizer. Approach pointed out 10 O'clock position low, climbing traffic. Got him visually and then we had an RA (at 10-15 seconds after approach call). The RA had us climbing but I thought that climbing with a climbing conflict would put us at risk! So I descended at 400-500 ft and traffic passed behind and above. Traffic saw us finally and turned right to increase separation. Traffic was single engine, low wing. After an uneventful landing at oak, several passenger commented on the closeness of our conflict!
