Narrative:

ATC facility: abq tower. Location: abq. A single engine cessna (C172 maybe) reported to abq ground control that our jetblast had tipped his airplane over and bent his propeller. As I turned to taxi out from pushback, I could see the cessna was upright on his wheels but his engine was shut down and his propeller tips were bent. Pushback was normal from gate and both engines were started before taxi. First officer monitored abq ground control from just prior to start of pushback until frequency change to tower. Taxi clearance was obtained from abq ground control before thrust was increased above idle and no warning or caution was given about a light aircraft behind us. Our MD80 was heavy and it took 1.2 EPR on both engines to get the aircraft to move. It appeared from the position of the cessna after I made my turn that he must have been very close to our tail. It appears that the cessna pilot was not injured because he said so when ground control asked if he needed assistance. Supplemental information from acn 584276: I was monitoring ground control throughout pushback and taxi and there were no warnings or cautions about a light aircraft behind us. We were heavy and required more than idle thrust to begin our left turn towards runway 8. When I looked at our EPR gauges, we were at 1.14 EPR. I've noticed in the past that ground control ramp or the pushback crew would give us a 'heads up' if there was a light aircraft behind us. We received no such warning this time.

Title: A C172 HOLDING ON THE RAMP SUFFERS A DAMAGED PROP AFTER IT IS TIPPED UP BY THE JETBLAST ENCOUNTERED FROM A DEP MD80 IN CLOSE PROX TO IT AT ABQ, NM.

Narrative: ATC FACILITY: ABQ TWR. LOCATION: ABQ. A SINGLE ENG CESSNA (C172 MAYBE) RPTED TO ABQ GND CTL THAT OUR JETBLAST HAD TIPPED HIS AIRPLANE OVER AND BENT HIS PROP. AS I TURNED TO TAXI OUT FROM PUSHBACK, I COULD SEE THE CESSNA WAS UPRIGHT ON HIS WHEELS BUT HIS ENG WAS SHUT DOWN AND HIS PROP TIPS WERE BENT. PUSHBACK WAS NORMAL FROM GATE AND BOTH ENGS WERE STARTED BEFORE TAXI. FO MONITORED ABQ GND CTL FROM JUST PRIOR TO START OF PUSHBACK UNTIL FREQ CHANGE TO TWR. TAXI CLRNC WAS OBTAINED FROM ABQ GND CTL BEFORE THRUST WAS INCREASED ABOVE IDLE AND NO WARNING OR CAUTION WAS GIVEN ABOUT A LIGHT ACFT BEHIND US. OUR MD80 WAS HVY AND IT TOOK 1.2 EPR ON BOTH ENGS TO GET THE ACFT TO MOVE. IT APPEARED FROM THE POS OF THE CESSNA AFTER I MADE MY TURN THAT HE MUST HAVE BEEN VERY CLOSE TO OUR TAIL. IT APPEARS THAT THE CESSNA PLT WAS NOT INJURED BECAUSE HE SAID SO WHEN GND CTL ASKED IF HE NEEDED ASSISTANCE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 584276: I WAS MONITORING GND CTL THROUGHOUT PUSHBACK AND TAXI AND THERE WERE NO WARNINGS OR CAUTIONS ABOUT A LIGHT ACFT BEHIND US. WE WERE HVY AND REQUIRED MORE THAN IDLE THRUST TO BEGIN OUR L TURN TOWARDS RWY 8. WHEN I LOOKED AT OUR EPR GAUGES, WE WERE AT 1.14 EPR. I'VE NOTICED IN THE PAST THAT GND CTL RAMP OR THE PUSHBACK CREW WOULD GIVE US A 'HEADS UP' IF THERE WAS A LIGHT ACFT BEHIND US. WE RECEIVED NO SUCH WARNING THIS TIME.
