Narrative:

After completing my run-up on A1, runway 22 at aeg, I heard a pilot calling 'turning base for runway 22.' I saw the aircraft turning from an extended downwind, and decided there was plenty of separation to depart. While I was rotating I heard the other aircraft call that he was executing a go around since there was an aircraft on the runway. Before I climbed to 500 ft he called 'midfield downwind,' and was on the ground before I was midfield downwind. I did not see this aircraft from the point of taking the active until turning downwind when I saw him on final. I could have seen another aircraft that had recently left the pattern, and confused it with the aircraft turning base. I will be spending more time searching for, and identing the aircraft in the pattern before taking the runway in the future.

Title: C172 PLT AT AEG, AN UNCTLED ARPT, DEPARTS WITH TFC CLOSE IN LNDG.

Narrative: AFTER COMPLETING MY RUN-UP ON A1, RWY 22 AT AEG, I HEARD A PLT CALLING 'TURNING BASE FOR RWY 22.' I SAW THE ACFT TURNING FROM AN EXTENDED DOWNWIND, AND DECIDED THERE WAS PLENTY OF SEPARATION TO DEPART. WHILE I WAS ROTATING I HEARD THE OTHER ACFT CALL THAT HE WAS EXECUTING A GAR SINCE THERE WAS AN ACFT ON THE RWY. BEFORE I CLBED TO 500 FT HE CALLED 'MIDFIELD DOWNWIND,' AND WAS ON THE GND BEFORE I WAS MIDFIELD DOWNWIND. I DID NOT SEE THIS ACFT FROM THE POINT OF TAKING THE ACTIVE UNTIL TURNING DOWNWIND WHEN I SAW HIM ON FINAL. I COULD HAVE SEEN ANOTHER ACFT THAT HAD RECENTLY LEFT THE PATTERN, AND CONFUSED IT WITH THE ACFT TURNING BASE. I WILL BE SPENDING MORE TIME SEARCHING FOR, AND IDENTING THE ACFT IN THE PATTERN BEFORE TAKING THE RWY IN THE FUTURE.
