Narrative:

Pushed from msp with clearance to taxi runway 30L. Completed all checklists and briefings per company/FAA procedures. Sitting #1 for runway 30L told by tower to taxi position and hold being ready for immediate takeoff with saab 340 on 3 mi final for same runway. As taxiing into position ran final takeoff items on checklist. (We were flight abcd.) we were not informed of flight aecf sitting position and hold on runway 22 at intersection M7. From our position there is no line of sight to M7 on runway 22. Tower cleared aecf on runway 30L for an immediate takeoff. Here's where situation compounds. Aircraft aecf heard call sign and accepted. Our aircraft, flight abcd, was primed for immediate on runway 30L. As we acknowledged clearance, flight aecf was doing same. Aecf evidently keyed microphone split second prior to us, so their transmission carried while ours was blocked. Tape revealed why clear transmission from us was a 'D', the last digit is our call sign. Both aircraft pwred up for takeoff and began rolling toward intersection runway 30L and runway 22. Informed (via company) controller viewed possible conflict unfolding, but opted to 'abort' either takeoff (primarily to aecf for possible stopping in runway's intersection). (It is my understanding clearance was for us, abcd on runway 30L, but controller called us using flight position and hold runway 22 call sign.) as we accelerated down runway, I viewed flight aecf move through intersection, rotate and climb. I thought separation looked close, but with intersection clear proceeded with roll, rotation and climb. Was not given any phone number to call. Flight proceeded to destination without incident. Did not hear of any problems until following afternoon (approximately 25 hours later), when contacted by company.

Title: DC9 DEP FROM MSP CONFLICTS WITH INTERSECTING RWY DEP.

Narrative: PUSHED FROM MSP WITH CLRNC TO TAXI RWY 30L. COMPLETED ALL CHKLISTS AND BRIEFINGS PER COMPANY/FAA PROCS. SITTING #1 FOR RWY 30L TOLD BY TWR TO TAXI POS AND HOLD BEING READY FOR IMMEDIATE TKOF WITH SAAB 340 ON 3 MI FINAL FOR SAME RWY. AS TAXIING INTO POS RAN FINAL TKOF ITEMS ON CHKLIST. (WE WERE FLT ABCD.) WE WERE NOT INFORMED OF FLT AECF SITTING POS AND HOLD ON RWY 22 AT INTXN M7. FROM OUR POS THERE IS NO LINE OF SIGHT TO M7 ON RWY 22. TWR CLRED AECF ON RWY 30L FOR AN IMMEDIATE TKOF. HERE'S WHERE SIT COMPOUNDS. ACFT AECF HEARD CALL SIGN AND ACCEPTED. OUR ACFT, FLT ABCD, WAS PRIMED FOR IMMEDIATE ON RWY 30L. AS WE ACKNOWLEDGED CLRNC, FLT AECF WAS DOING SAME. AECF EVIDENTLY KEYED MIKE SPLIT SECOND PRIOR TO US, SO THEIR XMISSION CARRIED WHILE OURS WAS BLOCKED. TAPE REVEALED WHY CLR XMISSION FROM US WAS A 'D', THE LAST DIGIT IS OUR CALL SIGN. BOTH ACFT PWRED UP FOR TKOF AND BEGAN ROLLING TOWARD INTXN RWY 30L AND RWY 22. INFORMED (VIA COMPANY) CTLR VIEWED POSSIBLE CONFLICT UNFOLDING, BUT OPTED TO 'ABORT' EITHER TKOF (PRIMARILY TO AECF FOR POSSIBLE STOPPING IN RWY'S INTXN). (IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING CLRNC WAS FOR US, ABCD ON RWY 30L, BUT CTLR CALLED US USING FLT POS AND HOLD RWY 22 CALL SIGN.) AS WE ACCELERATED DOWN RWY, I VIEWED FLT AECF MOVE THROUGH INTXN, ROTATE AND CLB. I THOUGHT SEPARATION LOOKED CLOSE, BUT WITH INTXN CLR PROCEEDED WITH ROLL, ROTATION AND CLB. WAS NOT GIVEN ANY PHONE NUMBER TO CALL. FLT PROCEEDED TO DEST WITHOUT INCIDENT. DID NOT HEAR OF ANY PROBS UNTIL FOLLOWING AFTERNOON (APPROX 25 HRS LATER), WHEN CONTACTED BY COMPANY.
