Narrative:
Aircraft X turned domestic operation to overwater operation (ETOPS). I missed the improper deferral of exit sign back repair per 17-01 when MEL 33-14 should have been used in ebum. Ebum deferred item incorrectly and I did not discover the error on ETOPS 1 logbook review.

Narrative: ACFT X TURNED DOMESTIC OP TO OVERWATER OP (ETOPS). I MISSED THE IMPROPER DEFERRAL OF EXIT SIGN BACK REPAIR PER 17-01 WHEN MEL 33-14 SHOULD HAVE BEEN USED IN EBUM. EBUM DEFERRED ITEM INCORRECTLY AND I DID NOT DISCOVER THE ERROR ON ETOPS 1 LOGBOOK REVIEW.
