Narrative:

Landed on runway 26 without event. Taxied off the runway at the end, and tower told me to contact ground. I continued rolling toward FBO on the only parallel taxiway F. We contacted ground and the controller advised us to hold short of the approach line of runway 13. We read back the clearance, and saw the runway 13 approach hold short line ahead. I slowly approached the hold short runway 13 approach line, and the controller came back 3 times rapidly telling us to clear the runway 13 approach area. We did not immediately move because we didn't understand the directions. We were holding short of the runway 13 approach line. How do we clear the runway 13 approach area? The controller kept repeating this, with no clear explanation of our situation. I am assuming, and am still unclr, that when we taxied off the end of runway 26, we must have rolled past the runway 13 approach hold short line while in the process of switching from tower to ground control. The instruction to hold short of the runway 13 approach line must have been received by us after we had just crossed that line. The first runway 13 approach line we saw after receiving instructions to hold short was the other side of the runway 13 approach corridor (hold short markings). We thought we were holding short, and in actuality, we were holding inside the approach area of runway 13. I think better markings would help. I also think tower should say 'exit runway to right, hold short of runway 13 approach line, and contact ground,' if that line is critical and very close to the exit of runway 26 rollout area. This gives pilots heads up to exit runway and be looking and prepared to stop for crossing runway 13 approach area.

Title: LR25 FAILS TO COMPLY WITH ATC TAXI AND HOLD DIRECTION AT FXE.

Narrative: LANDED ON RWY 26 WITHOUT EVENT. TAXIED OFF THE RWY AT THE END, AND TWR TOLD ME TO CONTACT GND. I CONTINUED ROLLING TOWARD FBO ON THE ONLY PARALLEL TXWY F. WE CONTACTED GND AND THE CTLR ADVISED US TO HOLD SHORT OF THE APCH LINE OF RWY 13. WE READ BACK THE CLRNC, AND SAW THE RWY 13 APCH HOLD SHORT LINE AHEAD. I SLOWLY APCHED THE HOLD SHORT RWY 13 APCH LINE, AND THE CTLR CAME BACK 3 TIMES RAPIDLY TELLING US TO CLR THE RWY 13 APCH AREA. WE DID NOT IMMEDIATELY MOVE BECAUSE WE DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THE DIRECTIONS. WE WERE HOLDING SHORT OF THE RWY 13 APCH LINE. HOW DO WE CLR THE RWY 13 APCH AREA? THE CTLR KEPT REPEATING THIS, WITH NO CLR EXPLANATION OF OUR SIT. I AM ASSUMING, AND AM STILL UNCLR, THAT WHEN WE TAXIED OFF THE END OF RWY 26, WE MUST HAVE ROLLED PAST THE RWY 13 APCH HOLD SHORT LINE WHILE IN THE PROCESS OF SWITCHING FROM TWR TO GND CTL. THE INSTRUCTION TO HOLD SHORT OF THE RWY 13 APCH LINE MUST HAVE BEEN RECEIVED BY US AFTER WE HAD JUST CROSSED THAT LINE. THE FIRST RWY 13 APCH LINE WE SAW AFTER RECEIVING INSTRUCTIONS TO HOLD SHORT WAS THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RWY 13 APCH CORRIDOR (HOLD SHORT MARKINGS). WE THOUGHT WE WERE HOLDING SHORT, AND IN ACTUALITY, WE WERE HOLDING INSIDE THE APCH AREA OF RWY 13. I THINK BETTER MARKINGS WOULD HELP. I ALSO THINK TWR SHOULD SAY 'EXIT RWY TO R, HOLD SHORT OF RWY 13 APCH LINE, AND CONTACT GND,' IF THAT LINE IS CRITICAL AND VERY CLOSE TO THE EXIT OF RWY 26 ROLLOUT AREA. THIS GIVES PLTS HEADS UP TO EXIT RWY AND BE LOOKING AND PREPARED TO STOP FOR XING RWY 13 APCH AREA.
