Narrative:

On jul/sun/02, I was assigned to do an 'a' check and repair all mels. This particular item was a 'no fix, no fly.' when preparing this item for work, we had a technician crew chief direct us in the removal and installation and the subsequent gear retraction for fit, form and function. When we did this particular job, the door was shipped to ZZZ from ZZZ1, I suspect because the aircraft was flying around the country 4 days on deferral. When we completed the job, the door fit within the maintenance manual and no adjustments or no fit and trim was required. The only addition to the new door was a seal from the old door and it fit with no modification to the door or seal. All holes aligned perfect from the old door to the new door. We put the old door in the box. The new door came in and the part number were identical on each door. No one has ever notified me before tonight on this incident. The technician crew chief and all parties concerned at that time found no discrepancy in this job. We accomplished this task with the maintenance manual for the replacement and gear retraction. There was no reason to doubt we had the incorrect part for the aircraft because we had the only door that air carrier owned that was not on an aircraft. This aircraft is in service with no discrepancies on this door to date as far as I know. This is all we have to go by in the field besides the manuals, under the direction of our crew chief, technician crew chiefs and supervisor the correct was installed in aircraft. Also the door that ZZZ1 has in its possession is probably the door that was removed from aircraft.

Narrative: ON JUL/SUN/02, I WAS ASSIGNED TO DO AN 'A' CHK AND REPAIR ALL MELS. WHEN WE DID THIS PARTICULAR JOB, THE DOOR WAS SHIPPED TO ZZZ FROM ZZZ1, I SUSPECT BECAUSE THE ACFT WAS FLYING AROUND THE COUNTRY 4 DAYS ON DEFERRAL. WHEN WE COMPLETED THE JOB, THE DOOR FIT WITHIN THE MAINT MANUAL AND NO ADJUSTMENTS OR NO FIT AND TRIM WAS REQUIRED. WE ACCOMPLISHED THIS TASK WITH THE MAINT MANUAL FOR THE REPLACEMENT AND GEAR RETRACTION. THERE WAS NO REASON TO DOUBT WE HAD THE INCORRECT PART FOR THE ACFT BECAUSE WE HAD THE ONLY DOOR THAT ACR OWNED THAT WAS NOT ON AN ACFT. THIS ACFT IS IN SVC WITH NO DISCREPANCIES ON THIS DOOR TO DATE AS FAR AS I KNOW. THIS IS ALL WE HAVE TO GO BY IN THE FIELD BESIDES THE MANUALS, UNDER THE DIRECTION OF OUR CREW CHIEF, TECHNICIAN CREW CHIEFS AND SUPVR THE CORRECT WAS INSTALLED IN ACFT. ALSO THE DOOR THAT ZZZ1 HAS IN ITS POSSESSION IS PROBABLY THE DOOR THAT WAS REMOVED FROM ACFT.
