Narrative:

About XA00 pm, upon returning from pittsburg, ks, I contacted ojc tower about 9 mi south advising I was inbound for landing with ATIS. Tower said to report 3 mi out for straight in approach. I reported at 3 mi and determined I was high, reduced power intermittently and applied full flaps. Upon crossing the threshold of the runway, it appeared I was too high and approaching stall speed. I applied power, but when I flared, it was too late to avoid a hard landing, accompanied by a bounce on the runway. Upon landing, it was impossible to steer the plane because of a damaged nose gear and I ran off the runway. The 2 of us on board were not hurt.
