Narrative:

Apron (ramp) control at cyul cleared us to taxi to runway 10 and hold short of taxiway G, and then call ground control. Tower cleared another company CL65 to taxi into position and hold on runway 10 (not audible to us). As we held short of taxiway G, we were only 100 meters from the runway 6L hold short line. Ground control told us to move up behind our company aircraft and hold short of runway 10. I assumed there was another hold short line before runway 10 (which intersects runway 6L) because the hold short line visible to us was marked as runway 6L and access to runway 10 is at a point further ahead. As I passed the runway 6L hold lights/line, I could now see that there was no other hold short line ahead. I immediately stopped and was simultaneously advised by ground control that I had passed the hold short line. The taxi diagram shows only one access to runway 10 (which requires a short back taxi) and depicts no hold short lines. However, the instruction for me to move up further made me believe another hold point existed, since the sign adjacent to the hold lights only depicted runway 6L. I should have questioned the clearance since it did appear slightly misleading. Better markings, chart depictions and more definitive ATC instructions would have helped avert this incursion.

Title: CL65 CROSSED HOLD SHORT LINE OF INTERSECTING RWY WHEN THEY MISINTERPRETED A CLRNC. LACK OF HOLD LINE INFO ON ARPT AERO CHART CONTRIBUTED TO THE CONFUSION CAUSED BY A SINGLE HOLD LINE FOR 2 XING RWYS.

Narrative: APRON (RAMP) CTL AT CYUL CLRED US TO TAXI TO RWY 10 AND HOLD SHORT OF TXWY G, AND THEN CALL GND CTL. TWR CLRED ANOTHER COMPANY CL65 TO TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD ON RWY 10 (NOT AUDIBLE TO US). AS WE HELD SHORT OF TXWY G, WE WERE ONLY 100 METERS FROM THE RWY 6L HOLD SHORT LINE. GND CTL TOLD US TO MOVE UP BEHIND OUR COMPANY ACFT AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 10. I ASSUMED THERE WAS ANOTHER HOLD SHORT LINE BEFORE RWY 10 (WHICH INTERSECTS RWY 6L) BECAUSE THE HOLD SHORT LINE VISIBLE TO US WAS MARKED AS RWY 6L AND ACCESS TO RWY 10 IS AT A POINT FURTHER AHEAD. AS I PASSED THE RWY 6L HOLD LIGHTS/LINE, I COULD NOW SEE THAT THERE WAS NO OTHER HOLD SHORT LINE AHEAD. I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED AND WAS SIMULTANEOUSLY ADVISED BY GND CTL THAT I HAD PASSED THE HOLD SHORT LINE. THE TAXI DIAGRAM SHOWS ONLY ONE ACCESS TO RWY 10 (WHICH REQUIRES A SHORT BACK TAXI) AND DEPICTS NO HOLD SHORT LINES. HOWEVER, THE INSTRUCTION FOR ME TO MOVE UP FURTHER MADE ME BELIEVE ANOTHER HOLD POINT EXISTED, SINCE THE SIGN ADJACENT TO THE HOLD LIGHTS ONLY DEPICTED RWY 6L. I SHOULD HAVE QUESTIONED THE CLRNC SINCE IT DID APPEAR SLIGHTLY MISLEADING. BETTER MARKINGS, CHART DEPICTIONS AND MORE DEFINITIVE ATC INSTRUCTIONS WOULD HAVE HELPED AVERT THIS INCURSION.
