Narrative:

Departure from teb, runway 24 calls for runway heading to 1500 ft MSL, then right to 280 degrees. Noise abatement procedure requires thrust cutback resulting in 500-700 FPM climb rate. Upon contact with TRACON, we were issued 'direct brezy.' I complied. In the right turn ATC gave us a 090 degree heading. (About 20 degrees further right). Shortly after, he asked if we were having trouble finding brezy. I responded no, we were assigned 090 degrees. I then observed an MD80 approximately 2 mi off my left wing and advised we would be unable brezy until clear of that traffic.
