Narrative:

Switched to departure after takeoff runway 8 tjsj. Was told to squawk a different code than what we had. First officer mentioned we may have taken off without a clearance. We asked departure to confirm routing. At cruise; discussed matter. First officer had requested pre departure clearance and thought it had come up with an ATIS that was also requested. Couldn't find hard copy of pre departure clearance. We had done our route and legs check after downloading route; but before receiving clearance. Prior to departure had a last min maintenance item and a passenger boarding problem; which may have distraction us. Ground; tower and departure never mentioned anything about us getting our clearance and it is possible we had one. In the future; I will make sure I have the pre departure clearance when I do the route check.
