Narrative:

On arrival to dfw approaching dietz intersection, oil quantity on left engine went to zero accompanied by low oil pressure indications. Referencing the QRH, the left throttle was retarded to idle. An emergency was declared. Engine indications were normal at idle -- other than low oil pressure and quantity. A precautionary single engine landing was accomplished. The engine was shut down immediately after landing. The flight attendants were briefed about the situation prior to approach. Crash fire rescue equipment was standing by and inspected the left engine and followed the aircraft to the gate as an additional precaution. I notified the passenger on landing regarding the inspection by crash fire rescue equipment. Taxi to parking was uneventful.
