Narrative:

Atl approach control had been very busy on radio -- cleared us for visual approach behind another aircraft. They seemed to switch us to the tower late -- the tower was very busy. The tower was stepped on many times as were we -- we happened to hear tower 'air carrier XXX.' we heard 'cleared to land.' no problem with other aircraft existed, just bad radio communication.

Narrative: ATL APCH CTL HAD BEEN VERY BUSY ON RADIO -- CLRED US FOR VISUAL APCH BEHIND ANOTHER ACFT. THEY SEEMED TO SWITCH US TO THE TWR LATE -- THE TWR WAS VERY BUSY.
