Narrative:

Aircraft noted to me, via ACARS 'we are in iranian airspace on the saddam VOR 099/408 degree radial. Hope tehran doesn't ask for our overfly permit number.' since the planned route was planned over saudi arabia, and nowhere near iran. I discarded the message as humor. The captain deviated from the flight plan, and the dispatcher was not notified until the aircraft was halfway through iranian airspace.
