Narrative:

I took off XA35 from jyo VFR, flight plan on first leg of humanitarian mission to pick up a patient and her husband at bwi and then proceed to agc, patient destination. Prior to departure I contacted pct clearance delivery and obtained departure instruction and transponder code (squawking 1200) and did not contact pct departure. I completely forgot about the tfr/ADIZ requirements and conducted this flight as VFR under normal circumstances. I remained below 1500 ft MSL until beyond 12 DME from aml then climbed to 2500 ft MSL. 30 DME west of balance I called bwi approach and was told to standby. I then realized I was squawking the wrong code and entered the correct code. I called approach again and was again re-buffed. I was then intercepted by F16's and escorted by helicopter to bwi. I was interviewed by tsa, local police, bwi security and secret service. Everyone was very polite and professional. After a delay of about 2 hours I was allowed to continue with the patient to agc. I was aware of the tfr/ADIZ procedures yet failed to follow them. Knowing my schedule would be tight I preflted the night before. I arrived at the airport (jyo) 30 mins behind schedule and felt rushed. I now believe that I was focused on the mission, not the flight, combined with my stressful day resulted in my errors. In hindsight I should have rejected the mission altogether, or at least attempted to delay it. I have learned much from the event to apply to future flts. I will be a better, safer pilot because of it. I am very sorry and humbled for the situation that I caused to happen.

Narrative: I TOOK OFF XA35 FROM JYO VFR, FLT PLAN ON FIRST LEG OF HUMANITARIAN MISSION TO PICK UP A PATIENT AND HER HUSBAND AT BWI AND THEN PROCEED TO AGC, PATIENT DESTINATION. PRIOR TO DEP I CONTACTED PCT CLRNC DELIVERY AND OBTAINED DEP INSTRUCTION AND XPONDER CODE (SQUAWKING 1200) AND DID NOT CONTACT PCT DEP. I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT THE TFR/ADIZ REQUIREMENTS AND CONDUCTED THIS FLT AS VFR UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES. I REMAINED BELOW 1500 FT MSL UNTIL BEYOND 12 DME FROM AML THEN CLBED TO 2500 FT MSL. 30 DME W OF BAL I CALLED BWI APCH AND WAS TOLD TO STANDBY. I THEN REALIZED I WAS SQUAWKING THE WRONG CODE AND ENTERED THE CORRECT CODE. I CALLED APCH AGAIN AND WAS AGAIN RE-BUFFED. I WAS THEN INTERCEPTED BY F16'S AND ESCORTED BY HELI TO BWI. I WAS INTERVIEWED BY TSA, LCL POLICE, BWI SECURITY AND SECRET SERVICE. EVERYONE WAS VERY POLITE AND PROFESSIONAL. AFTER A DELAY OF ABOUT 2 HRS I WAS ALLOWED TO CONTINUE WITH THE PATIENT TO AGC. I WAS AWARE OF THE TFR/ADIZ PROCEDURES YET FAILED TO FOLLOW THEM. KNOWING MY SCHEDULE WOULD BE TIGHT I PREFLTED THE NIGHT BEFORE. I ARRIVED AT THE ARPT (JYO) 30 MINS BEHIND SCHEDULE AND FELT RUSHED. I NOW BELIEVE THAT I WAS FOCUSED ON THE MISSION, NOT THE FLT, COMBINED WITH MY STRESSFUL DAY RESULTED IN MY ERRORS. IN HINDSIGHT I SHOULD HAVE REJECTED THE MISSION ALTOGETHER, OR AT LEAST ATTEMPTED TO DELAY IT. I HAVE LEARNED MUCH FROM THE EVENT TO APPLY TO FUTURE FLTS. I WILL BE A BETTER, SAFER PLT BECAUSE OF IT. I AM VERY SORRY AND HUMBLED FOR THE SIT THAT I CAUSED TO HAPPEN.
