Narrative:

In the morning, I wanted to take the student on a short flight to another uncontrolled airport, so I chose one, 11 miles away. It had a standard pattern versus the non-standard pattern at our home field. We departed, flew over at 1300 ft AGL, did one full stop landing, departed and returned. The student was behind the aircraft. Next afternoon, we did the same thing, hoping the student will build upon his experience. So we did the same round robin flight the same way. The difference, besides the student doing much better, was being greeted upon landing with the request to call us customs. We violated the ny tfr defined by the 30 mile mode C veil. Customs told me to call ny TRACON. Our airport is about 4 miles outside the mode C veil. The other airport is one NM inside the veil. It was a beautiful VFR day. I never checked with FSS. When a group of us pilot spoke about effect of the tfr, this airport was never mentioned or considered. Never assume, always verify and call FSS prior to every flight.

Title: SMA INSTRUCTOR AND STUDENT PLT ADVISED AFTER TRAINING FLT FROM 39N TO N87 THAT THEY HAD VIOLATED THE NY ADIZ. 39N IS LOCATED 1 MILE INSIDE THE NY ADIZ.

Narrative: IN THE MORNING, I WANTED TO TAKE THE STUDENT ON A SHORT FLT TO ANOTHER UNCTLED ARPT, SO I CHOSE ONE, 11 MILES AWAY. IT HAD A STANDARD PATTERN VERSUS THE NON-STANDARD PATTERN AT OUR HOME FIELD. WE DEPARTED, FLEW OVER AT 1300 FT AGL, DID ONE FULL STOP LNDG, DEPARTED AND RETURNED. THE STUDENT WAS BEHIND THE ACFT. NEXT AFTERNOON, WE DID THE SAME THING, HOPING THE STUDENT WILL BUILD UPON HIS EXPERIENCE. SO WE DID THE SAME ROUND ROBIN FLT THE SAME WAY. THE DIFFERENCE, BESIDES THE STUDENT DOING MUCH BETTER, WAS BEING GREETED UPON LNDG WITH THE REQUEST TO CALL US CUSTOMS. WE VIOLATED THE NY TFR DEFINED BY THE 30 MILE MODE C VEIL. CUSTOMS TOLD ME TO CALL NY TRACON. OUR ARPT IS ABOUT 4 MILES OUTSIDE THE MODE C VEIL. THE OTHER ARPT IS ONE NM INSIDE THE VEIL. IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL VFR DAY. I NEVER CHKED WITH FSS. WHEN A GROUP OF US PLT SPOKE ABOUT EFFECT OF THE TFR, THIS ARPT WAS NEVER MENTIONED OR CONSIDERED. NEVER ASSUME, ALWAYS VERIFY AND CALL FSS PRIOR TO EVERY FLT.
