Narrative:

Basically, I ran out of fuel and had to make an emergency night landing. The cause was that my fuel gauges were not accurate and I had not done a visual inspection prior to takeoff. I assume complete responsibility for the incident. Fortunately, I was able to land the plane on a small country road without mishap. This was nothing short of a miracle. The fire department and local sheriff's department arrived shortly after my landing and assisted me in taxiing to a local church's parking lot. The following morning, they staked out a 1500 ft stretch of highway with no obstacle and I took off and flew to ZZZ1 to fuel up before returning to ZZZ2. I spoke with a supervisor at the FSDO and I am going to get some remedial training with a local flight instructor. I described the incident in detail with supervisor.
