Narrative:

Possible far duty limit violation. At XA10 on day 2 of 3-DAY reserve pairing, I got a call from scheduling. I was told I needed to catch a deadhead to rno that departed in 1 hour 35 mins. I said I would do my best to make it, but it was unlikely. I was told to call before I left home to see if they had something later for me. I got home, got ready, got on the computer to print trip sequence and called scheduling. They said no changes and asked when I thought I could make it there. I said XC00. En route, I called scheduling and said if they paid for parking I could make it by push time and wouldn't have to wait for the employee shuttle. They said great. I ran to the lounge, checked mail and went to the gate. We pushed on time. Once in rno, I looked at my trip sequence and called scheduling to see exactly what I was doing. They said fly flight to ZZZ then to ZZZ1. This matched my trip sequence. Then I noticed I was scheduled to arrive in ZZZ1 at XI50. The scheduler said that was ok as long as I got to the gate in ZZZ1 by XJ30, the 15 hour 30 min duty limit accounting for the 30 min debrief on my flight to ZZZ. I pulled out my manual to doublechk the duty limits. I felt that the trip should not have been assigned to me because, upon assignment, it had me getting in ZZZ1 at XI50 and the 30 min debrief breaks my duty limit of XJ00. In ZZZ, I called scheduling with my concern that I broke an far by accepting a trip that broke my duty limit. They assured me that an far hadn't been broken, but the contract had. They asked if I was ok to continue to ZZZ1 and I said yes. Chief pilot phone patch was completed. I got to ZZZ1 at XI53. After reviewing our 'reserve legalities' several times, I still feel I shouldn't have been legal to accept this trip. Under 'general' it clearly states 'the following far requirements apply to pilots on reserve.' the 4TH bullet statement says 'a reserve assignment must be completed (including the 30 min duty time after block in) prior to the end of the duty limit. The 'delays' section doesn't apply to me because it starts out 'once assigned a pairing and the reserve is delayed.' I was going to break my duty limit before the trip was assigned. Bottom line is the whole process was rushed right from the phone call! Pilots have a can-do attitude, and want to succeed. Adequate information was not supplied to me on the phone and I failed to ask. Schedulers always sound like they are sure you're legal and they have computer back-up. Pilots must read a confusing fom while in motion. Was I legal or not?

Title: ACR PLT WAS COERCED BY CREW SCHEDULING TO PERFORM A DUTY DAY POSSIBLY IN EXCESS OF CONTRACTUAL AND FAR LIMITS.

Narrative: POSSIBLE FAR DUTY LIMIT VIOLATION. AT XA10 ON DAY 2 OF 3-DAY RESERVE PAIRING, I GOT A CALL FROM SCHEDULING. I WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO CATCH A DEADHEAD TO RNO THAT DEPARTED IN 1 HR 35 MINS. ENRTE, I CALLED SCHEDULING AND SAID IF THEY PAID FOR PARKING I COULD MAKE IT BY PUSH TIME AND WOULDN'T HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE EMPLOYEE SHUTTLE. THEY SAID GREAT. I RAN TO THE LOUNGE, CHKED MAIL AND WENT TO THE GATE. WE PUSHED ON TIME. ONCE IN RNO, I LOOKED AT MY TRIP SEQUENCE AND CALLED SCHEDULING TO SEE EXACTLY WHAT I WAS DOING. THEY SAID FLY FLT TO ZZZ THEN TO ZZZ1. THIS MATCHED MY TRIP SEQUENCE. THEN I NOTICED I WAS SCHEDULED TO ARRIVE IN ZZZ1 AT XI50. THE SCHEDULER SAID THAT WAS OK AS LONG AS I GOT TO THE GATE IN ZZZ1 BY XJ30, THE 15 HR 30 MIN DUTY LIMIT ACCOUNTING FOR THE 30 MIN DEBRIEF ON MY FLT TO ZZZ. CHIEF PLT PHONE PATCH WAS COMPLETED. I GOT TO ZZZ1 AT XI53. AFTER REVIEWING OUR 'RESERVE LEGALITIES' SEVERAL TIMES, I STILL FEEL I SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN LEGAL TO ACCEPT THIS TRIP. UNDER 'GENERAL' IT CLRLY STATES 'THE FOLLOWING FAR REQUIREMENTS APPLY TO PLTS ON RESERVE.' THE 4TH BULLET STATEMENT SAYS 'A RESERVE ASSIGNMENT MUST BE COMPLETED (INCLUDING THE 30 MIN DUTY TIME AFTER BLOCK IN) PRIOR TO THE END OF THE DUTY LIMIT. PLTS HAVE A CAN-DO ATTITUDE, AND WANT TO SUCCEED. ADEQUATE INFO WAS NOT SUPPLIED TO ME ON THE PHONE AND I FAILED TO ASK. SCHEDULERS ALWAYS SOUND LIKE THEY ARE SURE YOU'RE LEGAL AND THEY HAVE COMPUTER BACK-UP. PLTS MUST READ A CONFUSING FOM WHILE IN MOTION. WAS I LEGAL OR NOT?
