Narrative:

Preparing for departure from F69, I taxied to the intersection of the midfield taxiway to the runway and stopped. Looked both ways and began to back taxi to runway 16. As soon as I turned north on the runway, I saw a sundowner rolling toward me for takeoff. I immediately turned off the runway and the sundowner stopped. We came no closer than 500 ft. Sundowner u-turned back to the end of runway 16. I taxied across the grass back to the taxiway. Sundowner departed. I was listening to addison ATIS, which is only 3 mi south. When I looked north toward the end of runway 16, I did not see the sundowner due to a new, building past the end of runway 16. Sundowner blended in with the building color. I was not monitoring unicom for F69. I need to look more carefully before entering this very familiar runway and be on unicom before entering runway.
