Narrative:

Taxied for takeoff from gate in hnl, holding short of runway 22R, tower cleared us to cross runway 22R and taxi into position on 22L. First officer to make takeoff. Then tower cleared us for takeoff. Tower then advised 'caution, wake turbulence from company landing B717, and there is a boeing on a 2 1/2 mi final.' autothrottles were engaged. I looked left and could see 2 1/2 mi traffic was 'no factor.' the B717 advised he's on short final. When I saw that the B717 at 11-12 O'clock position, I held the throttles from advancing and applied slight braking until the B717 was clear through the intersection of runway 22L and his landing runway 26R. Brakes were released and autothrottles allowed to take off thrust. I did not feel there would have been a conflict, but slightly delayed takeoff to ensure more clearance. I gave control of aircraft back to first officer. The takeoff was conducted without conflict, and flight was accomplished without incident. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated he braked slightly when the pilot in the landing aircraft said they were on short final. He said separation was not a problem.

Title: B767 CREW SLOW THEIR DEP ROLL AT HNL WHEN TFC IS OBSERVED LNDG ON A XING RWY.

Narrative: TAXIED FOR TKOF FROM GATE IN HNL, HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 22R, TWR CLRED US TO CROSS RWY 22R AND TAXI INTO POS ON 22L. FO TO MAKE TKOF. THEN TWR CLRED US FOR TKOF. TWR THEN ADVISED 'CAUTION, WAKE TURB FROM COMPANY LNDG B717, AND THERE IS A BOEING ON A 2 1/2 MI FINAL.' AUTOTHROTTLES WERE ENGAGED. I LOOKED L AND COULD SEE 2 1/2 MI TFC WAS 'NO FACTOR.' THE B717 ADVISED HE'S ON SHORT FINAL. WHEN I SAW THAT THE B717 AT 11-12 O'CLOCK POS, I HELD THE THROTTLES FROM ADVANCING AND APPLIED SLIGHT BRAKING UNTIL THE B717 WAS CLR THROUGH THE INTXN OF RWY 22L AND HIS LNDG RWY 26R. BRAKES WERE RELEASED AND AUTOTHROTTLES ALLOWED TO TAKE OFF THRUST. I DID NOT FEEL THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A CONFLICT, BUT SLIGHTLY DELAYED TKOF TO ENSURE MORE CLRNC. I GAVE CTL OF ACFT BACK TO FO. THE TKOF WAS CONDUCTED WITHOUT CONFLICT, AND FLT WAS ACCOMPLISHED WITHOUT INCIDENT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED HE BRAKED SLIGHTLY WHEN THE PLT IN THE LNDG ACFT SAID THEY WERE ON SHORT FINAL. HE SAID SEPARATION WAS NOT A PROB.
