Narrative:

Aircraft experienced 2 consecutive hung starts. PIC made write-up in aircraft logbook (#1 engine would not accelerate above 34% N1). Chief pilot insisted on third attempt at start. #1 engine started on third attempt. Maintenance control advised PIC to enter in corrective action of aircraft logbook (third attempt operations checked good). As a result of this maintenance signoff, aircraft flew 2 legs with illegal sign-off.

Title: A SAAB 340A WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE AFTER 2 HUNG STARTS ON #1 ENG WITH NO MAINT ACTION TAKEN. THIRD START WAS NORMAL.

Narrative: ACFT EXPERIENCED 2 CONSECUTIVE HUNG STARTS. PIC MADE WRITE-UP IN ACFT LOGBOOK (#1 ENG WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 34% N1). CHIEF PLT INSISTED ON THIRD ATTEMPT AT START. #1 ENG STARTED ON THIRD ATTEMPT. MAINT CTL ADVISED PIC TO ENTER IN CORRECTIVE ACTION OF ACFT LOGBOOK (THIRD ATTEMPT OPS CHKED GOOD). AS A RESULT OF THIS MAINT SIGNOFF, ACFT FLEW 2 LEGS WITH ILLEGAL SIGN-OFF.
