Narrative:
Aircraft X was cleared direct cvg. At the time aircraft Y was observed, not believed to be a factor. Conflict alert activated. Turns given, but not in time to get separation. During this time, I was busy trying to locate another aircraft at opposite side of sector.

Title: ZID CTLR, DISTR WITH A NORDO EVENT, FAILS TO MONITOR DEVELOPING CONFLICT BTWN AN E145 AND A B737 AT THE OTHER SIDE OF HIS SECTOR.
Narrative: ACFT X WAS CLRED DIRECT CVG. AT THE TIME ACFT Y WAS OBSERVED, NOT BELIEVED TO BE A FACTOR. CONFLICT ALERT ACTIVATED. TURNS GIVEN, BUT NOT IN TIME TO GET SEPARATION. DURING THIS TIME, I WAS BUSY TRYING TO LOCATE ANOTHER ACFT AT OPPOSITE SIDE OF SECTOR.
