Narrative:

Takeoff aborted at approximately 110 KTS as left engine egt was observed rising through 620 degree. Returned to gate and wrote it up. Air carrier maintenance controller's solution to problem was to visually inspect the engine and send us on our way. Nothing beyond looking at the engine was done. I refused the aircraft.
