Narrative:

Returned to dfw because of gear malfunction. After takeoff, the main landing gear would not retract the gear handle was recycled as per maintenance, but main gear still would not come up. We returned to dfw and landed overweight. An emergency was declared and we landed with no incident. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the aircraft had just come from heavy maintenance. Maintenance reported a gear sequencing computer prevented main gear operation. The lever latch did not prevent gear handle operation. The flight changed aircraft and operated late.

Title: B777-200 CREW WAS UNABLE TO RETRACT THE MAIN GEAR AFTER TKOF AT DFW.

Narrative: RETURNED TO DFW BECAUSE OF GEAR MALFUNCTION. AFTER TKOF, THE MAIN LNDG GEAR WOULD NOT RETRACT THE GEAR HANDLE WAS RECYCLED AS PER MAINT, BUT MAIN GEAR STILL WOULD NOT COME UP. WE RETURNED TO DFW AND LANDED OVERWT. AN EMER WAS DECLARED AND WE LANDED WITH NO INCIDENT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE ACFT HAD JUST COME FROM HEAVY MAINT. MAINT REPORTED A GEAR SEQUENCING COMPUTER PREVENTED MAIN GEAR OPERATION. THE LEVER LATCH DID NOT PREVENT GEAR HANDLE OPERATION. THE FLIGHT CHANGED ACFT AND OPERATED LATE.
