Narrative:

On taxi out from sfo, received rerte. Sent route to dispatch and programmed computers. Received new flight plan from dispatch and didn't notice that flight dispatch status changed from method 1 to method 2 for driftdown. No en route alternate WX accompanied the new flight plan. However, we did notice difference at top of climb and got driftdown alternate WX and proceeded on. Suggest dispatch automatically send a notice that method change and that WX accompany new routing/dispatch status in future. Very time constrained, high workload. Terrible time for rertes when pre departure clearance could have told us same.
